Sales and Marketing Consultant
Jim secured his degree in Hotel Administration from the University of New Hampshire ‘ 74…and has never looked back. With a career spectrum that ranges from entry level sales, to mid management, to leadership positions in various corporate offices, he has leveraged all this perspective with his successful consulting career now for 23 years.
Starting with Dunfey Hotels in New England, Jim worked in the field with hotel assignments in Philadelphia and quickly advanced through the ranks to lead the company’s flagship hotel – the Parker House in Boston – just as the company took over and became Omni Hotels. Within 4 years, Jim then became part of the corporate leadership team and created no less than 5 new positions within the sales and marketing departments of this emerging company. Within his first 10 career years he held key positions in multi-million dollar hotel operations and executive offices and became known for his communication and assessment and collaborative skills.
A major opportunity in ’88 enabled Jim to now enter the upscale boutique and international hotel niches – working with Coastal Hotel Group, in such desirable locales as Islamorada, Fl; Deer Valley, UT and Carmel, CA, as well as London and Australia.
In the early ‘90s, Jim embarked on a solo career and his consultancy as Jim Miller and Associates has now entered its 23 year of successful operation. Key to his modis operandi is the approach of entering every project as a Partner and not just a hired gun consultant. This novel approach expanded to his business model of developing Partnerships with skilled colleagues in all areas of sales – management and marketing – in the areas of Finance, Operations, Asset Management – and thus, enabling Jim to project and provide the services of a full sized marketing firm. Further, his experience becomes requested as a Trainer in areas of Customer Service and Culture Creation, as well as 1:1 Coaching and he is regularly called on now to facilitate executive team-building sessions and keynote talks for conferences with an audience of 50 – 500.
Key to Jim’s passionate presentations now is his claim for having run a marathon in every state and as of 4/20/15 – he completed his 108th marathon in Boston; so, rest assured, there is a theme of Pace and Persistence in every one of his presentations. Couple this passion with his proud relations with his three daughters – Mai, Cait and Kelsey B and Jim will regale you and yours as well as renew a sense of your own passions for improved performance – both personally and professionally.
